North Central Section 99s Fall Meeting in Dublin, Ohio, September 29 – October 1. Belles of the Buckeye State
Hosted by the Scioto Valley Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. Highlights of the weekend include Friday tours of the Champaign County Aviation Museum, Saturday lunchtime presentation by deaf pilot Jenny Hurst, Saturday afternoon tour of the old CMH tower, Saturday evening banquet keynote address by Christine Mortine. For those who cannot attend the Saturday morning business meeting in person, a Zoom link will be provided. 2023 Chapter Meetings
Wednesday, July 12, 2023. KOSU. The meeting was devoted to planning for the North Central Section 2023 Fall Meeting, which we are hosting. Chairs for all committees were named.
Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Union County Airport (KMRT) in Marysville, Ohio. Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Christine Mortine is hosting and will introduce us to “the ‘Queen Mother’, a PT-26 Fairchild WWII trainer which is the launch aircraft for the newly formed Buckeye Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.” Contact sciotovalley@ncs99s.org for more information.
May 10, 7:00 p.m. at KOSU. After the meeting, Danielle Reese demonstrated two flight simulators, replicas of those Amelia Earhart used when she talked to young people about flying. These mechanisms will be demonstrated at our Scioto Valley 99s table in the Net Jets tent at the Columbus Airshow June 16-18.
Wednesday, April 12, 6:00 p.m., at the 94th Aero Squadron restaurant, on the north side of CMH. This was our chapter’s anniversary dinner and the night when we awarded our scholarship to Sophia Bruck for instrument training.
March 8, 7:00 p.m. at KOSU. After covering the usual chapter/section business, we used the remainder of the time planning for the fall section meeting, which we will host. This was a hybrid meeting.
Wednesday, February 8, 7:00 p.m. at KOSU. Meet at 6:50 in the lobby of the FBO to be escorted to our meeting location. Jenny Hurst, an ASL instructor at OSU, will talk about how the deaf earn a PPL. This will be a hybrid meeting; email sciotovalley@ncs99s.org for a Zoom link.
Wednesday, January 11, 7:00 p.m., KOSU was a hybrid meeting. After intoducing several new people, we discussed plans for hosting the fall NCS Section Meeting.

Danielle Reese talked about her Pietenpol and the joys and challenges of restoring it. Her presentation was entertaining and packed with information about this early 20th-century homebuilt.

A fly-out to Auglaize/Neil Armstrong airport for a meeting, followed by our annual potluck picnic and cookout, hosted by member Naomi St. Julian and her husband, Randy, at their nearby farm.

At noon, at Bolton KTZR, we joined the All-Ohio chapter at their monthly meeting. Their program was Christine Mortine, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Air & Space Hall of Fame and Learning Center (https://ohioairandspace.org/), who talked about how the old Port Columbus Control Tower is being turned into this new Center. Lunch at JP’s preceded the meeting.

On Wednesday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. we met in our new “home” at KOSU. Amy Yersavich talked about her recent flight from Tucson to Mexico! Afterward, we gave a big thanks to Vicki Evans for her past two-year service as chair, and finished with drawings for door prizes.

Our May meeting was via Zoom. We had our business meeting, followed by hangar flying!

Our Anniversary Dinner, at which we honored our new scholarship winners. Met at 6:00 p.m. at Mozart’s Restaurant and Piano Cafe on N. High St. in Columbus.
